CAReS was established in 1990. They provides assistance and referral to individuals and families in Boyd County during times of need, crisis and emergency They also take a leadership role in preventing duplication of valuable services by acting as an information clearing house for a variety of area agencies and churches.
Ashland Community Kitchen, Inc. established in 1983, provides hungry people with a hot, nutritious meal in a clean, safe environment while treating each individual served with dignity and respect. The Kitchen also provides meals for the Ashland Meals-on-Wheels program.
The Dressing Room founded in 1920, is the oldest of the nonprofits within The Neighborhood collaborative. Federated Charities collects, cleans and repairs clothing and miscellaneous items and redistributes them at no cost to individuals in need.
River Cities Harvest, Inc.River Cities Harvest, established in 1991, collects perishable food that would otherwise be wasted from area restaurants and food stores and distributes it to agencies that feed the needy in Boyd and Greenup counties in Kentucky and Lawrence County in Ohio.
AAPM is a cooperative ministry of local Presbyterian churches. They provide emergency relief for those in need of personal items, cleaning and laundry supplies not covered by food stamp s. AAPM staff helps individuals with paperwork required to obtain birth certificates. AAPM will provide services to the homeless including shower facilities, mail boxes and computer access once in The Neighborhood.
